GSG’s Cape Town team had the honor and privilege to participate in another inspiring community outreach event which took place at The Haven Night Shelter, an organization that provides transitional assistance for the homeless in South Africa.
The GSG team provided amenity kits for personal hygiene, and then our own Asanda Jonas gave a presentation on job readiness and interviewing tips to Haven’s clients and staff, to help them feel prepared for employment opportunities. The questions and interaction with the clients provided great inspiration for us as a firm to continue our mission of providing People and Solutions that Deliver so that we can do even more to give back to the communities where we work and live. GSG sees this as just the beginning of a long term partnership with the organization, and hope that our example can encourage other local companies to partner with the shelter to provide assistance to their clients who have unique and marketable talents.
One of the unique things the shelter does is provide “passports” to their shelters to people on the streets. The passports entitle the homeless to a meal, shower, clothing and a bed (if available), social work services and assistance in finding a way back to a home, family and community. We’ve included a picture of the passport here and the shelter encouraged us to share the passport image in this post so that local South Africans can print and share with people they encounter, who they think could benefit from the program.
The Haven Night Shelter has locations throughout South Africa and we are so grateful to their CEO Hassan Khan for welcoming Granite Solutions Groupe into their partnership program! Thank you Hassan, and thank you GSG team members!!
