About the Opportunity:

GSG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. We deliver expert talent for our business partners.

This newly created Senior Software Engineer role is responsible for the full programming development life cycle (i.e., interpreting business requirements, developing and documenting design & technical specifications, implementing solutions, performing code reviews/audit, coordinating QA testing and collaborating with other technology teams). This role also provides technical support for the investment team and help the team to automate / modernize the investment applications.



  • Supports internal portfolio management administrative application and provides production system support.
  • Works closely with quantitative research team and trading team, to build automations & tools to improve efficiency/scalability of our operation process and facilitate the quantitative research activities. Supports quant and trading team’s day-to-day research and operations work and jointly developing the tools they use to perform their research activities.
  • Designs, and develops software products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet environments. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Performs application coding and programming that are consistent with architecture principles, standards, methodologies, and technology organization's best practices.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of relevant contemporary software stacks and has a keen interest in and/or willingness to learn about financial markets and quantitative research techniques.
  • Monitor and evaluate competitive applications, products, new technologies and practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Leads general system maintenance and upgrades (server refresh, database upgrades, etc.). Liaises with other internal IT teams to release code changes and as needed to resolve system / technical issues for the team. May from time to time also liaise with other internal teams like the Risk and Compliance teams.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements system enhancements that result in increased quality, efficiencies, maintainability and scalability to applications.



  • A strong academic background in Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline with minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • 6+ years of IT software development experience, preferably in the investment management/financial services industry.
  • Must have participated full cycle of major application implementation.
  • Has comprehensive knowledge of technical infrastructure, networking, and system operations. Has knowledge of hardware capacity planning and high availability solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the specific application technologies and standards. Proficient in SQL
  • (including stored procedures), Python, Perl, C#, ASP.Net web development including DevExpress, repositories, and shell scripts. Deep technical knowledge of specific application technologies space is a plus (i.e., Charles River CRD).

  • Direct experience in fixed income, currencies, investment risk management, and quantitative
  • research is a plus.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Charles River, Bloomberg PORT or similar risk system a plus.
  • Ability to react to urgent request on short notice when opportunities come with rapidly changing
  • markets. Able to response within short turn-around time with high quality work.
  • 20% overlap with California work hours at the time of hire. (may change at manager’s discretion)
  • Flexible with work hours given the need to work with Singapore and US offices.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of system models, data models, schemas, database structures, database design, database theory and various diagramming techniques.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency across multiple programming languages, operating systems, techniques, structures, and principles.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Relational / Object Oriented database technologies.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills parsing and processing big data set.
