About the Opportunity:

GSG is looking for a Privacy Program Manager to join the Privacy Office at a leading bank and wealth management organization. The Program Manager will help drive the organization around managing rapid pace privacy and compliance initiatives. This role will be a trusted partner for providing privacy guidance to Business Leaders, Functional Groups, Team Leads, and other applicable Stakeholders. A critical component of the position is developing and maintaining strong relationships across the Bank with mission critical Business Leadership and the Bank’s Privacy Liaison Community.

This position reports directly to the Head of Privacy, Compliance / Privacy Officer, and is based in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic support for the company’s Privacy Office, Privacy Program, and Head of Privacy, Compliance;
  • Support the Head of Privacy, Compliance in overseeing the Privacy Program and assist in the efforts to drive accountability for privacy in multiple respective disciplines;
  • Consult and coordinate with Privacy Leads, providing guidance and direction for risk assessments and compliance concerns;
  • Lead and coordinate regulatory risk assessments and develop strategies to address mitigation plans and remediation efforts;
  • Provide strategic privacy-related advice and support for new business ventures, pilot programs and initiatives;
  • Assist in expanding the Privacy Office’s global footprint with the company, support the development, drafting, and delivery of communications to raise awareness about the company’s Privacy Program across business functions;
  • Keep on top of current & upcoming state and federal privacy law and monitor advancements in information privacy technologies to support organizational adaptation & compliance.
  • Analyze privacy issues as they arise and provide advice to business and support units as required, particularly for new studies, services and systems.
  • Provide overall support to the Head of Privacy, Compliance and Privacy Office such as development and distribution of agenda, minutes, and follow up items;
  • Assist in department or division-wide initiatives and special projects.

Skills/Requirements:

  • 4-year Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in a relevant area of study from an accredited University; law degree a plus (not mandatory);
  • 3+ years’ experience, including at least 2 years’ experience in privacy management, preferably in a S&P 500 Bank or Financial Services Institution;
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or equivalent professional certification is not required, but preferred;
  • Knowledge of relevant privacy laws, regulations, compliance and best practices – GLBA, CCPA, FCRA, RFPA, Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA, ADA, SEC – Regulation S-P, CAN-SPAM, CalFIPA, CalOPPA, CCPA, CPRA, other State Privacy Laws & Regulations coming into effect on January 1, 2023 or currently under consideration;
  • Excellent written, oral, analytical, project management, and presentation skills;
  • Ability to develop and implement highly effective strategic communications plans;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and resources with a sense of urgency and to navigate within a complex organization;
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with creative and critical thinking capabilities with a personal stake in everything that you work on;
  • Competent and comfortable building strong relationships and driving cross-company alignment;
  • Ability to work independently to create structures and build consensus around operational concepts;
  • Comfortable performing under pressure to hit deadlines in an ambiguous matrixed organization;
  • Exceptional collaboration, partnership and influencing skills with the ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment across multiple locations and time zones to drive consensus and deliver results in cross-functional team;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface well with technical, operations and business partners at all levels;
  • Success in working with product and engineering teams to define requirements and implement effective technical tools;
  • Proven ability to translate policy and business requirements and work with various levels of business stakeholders to create innovative scalable solutions;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication ability to a diverse stakeholder audience, including a global team of C-level executives, product, and technical stakeholders;
  • Strategic platform and system thinker who can balance big picture strategy with detailed, flawless execution;
  • Innate capability to, directly and indirectly, lead cross-functional teams through success;
  • Experience within the diversity and inclusion space.
